An eight-week intensive Lao program in Vientiane, Lao PDR
Do you want to learn the Lao language, Lao history, and Lao culture? What better way to do it than to spend your summer fully immersed in Lao society.
Join SAIL 2010, where you’ll have the opportunity to study at the Lao-American College in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos and interact with the Lao on a daily basis.
Program highlights include:
An intensive Lao language course
A Lao and Lao American history and culture course (or an elective) course
Classroom guest speakers
Cultural excursions throughout the city and provinces
Home stay opportunities
Optional volunteer work program with a local or international organization
Highly qualified program leader, San Francisco State University faculty, and Lao teacher
Credit transfer to U.S.A. colleges and universities is available through San Francisco State University’s Asian American Studies Department.
Program Eligibility:
Open to both undergraduate and graduate students, educators, and education administrators as well as those interested in Lao, Lao American, Southeast Asian, and Asian cultures and society. Must be 18 years or older. Please contact the Center for Lao Studies to determine your qualification.
